Fights and Arguing

Destructive Behavior :
My partner always storms out

This is a correlary tip with the partner who hides or refuses to argue. Someone who storms out of an argument is leaving because he cannot find another way to deal with the emotional stress. Perhaps he is afraid of getting too angry and violent ... perhaps he simply does not know how to deal with the emotions fighting brings on.

Find a time when you both are able to talk for a while, and talk about how he feels when he storms out. Is he feeling out of control? Is he just unhappy with discussing things? Talk about what in particular leads him to these feelings, and the next time you start to fight, watch for those signs. Start to back off when they occur, and call a timeout. This will give you both a chance to cool off before he leaves, and after a while it will become natural to stay and finish talking.
