Sometimes there are things with no ´middle ground´ - either you go to your parents or your partners for a given holiday. Find something to offer in exchange for the current argument topic - perhaps go to the other parents´ home the following weekend, or for another holiday. Figure out what each person is looking for as a resolution, and find a way to at least meet some of the needs at the moment. In the next similar situation, preference can be made to the partner who ´settled for less´ this time.
