Escaping Unhappiness

Think about your world outside your relationship. Were you happy? Did you run into the relationship in order to escape a situation you didn´t like? Relationships should not be escapes that you chose to get away from something else - they should be something you went to of your own free will, even though you were happy already. If you chose a relationship in part because it was "better than the awful alternative", that´s not a good start to build on.
