In order to maintain a healthy long-distance relationship, it's important to keep in contact with your signifigant other several times per day. E-mail, instant message, call, text, there are several options with today's technology to make contact several times per day. I can't stress enough the importance of writing letters. Receiving a letter from your partner in their familiar handwriting is much more likely to illicit a happy response from the awaiting mate. My boyfriend and I have dated for four years, and we are three months into our newly started college careers. He lives three thousand miles away from me. While there have been moments of heartach, questions of happiness and thoughts of turmoil, every time I fly for a visit or he comes home and sees me, I am reassured that our love will withstand anything. If you truly love someone, they are never far away. Make yourself as available as possible and don't forget to say "I love you," frequently. It's not easy, nobody pretends that it is, but just remember...It is possible.
