I think that if you just keep it friendly, you will find out soon enough.
Rather than asking her out on a proper date, first, why not suggest that you work together ~ studying for a test or doing homework. Maybe you could do this at each other's homes or at the library, perhaps. Then you could suggest having a break, where you could have a drink and a snack and have a chat.
I studied languages at school, so I know that there is always grammar revision or vocabulary practice to be done.
I don't know how old you are, but be sure that whatever you do, you stay in safe places, where your parents know where you are.
