I would be interested in dating him

there is this one guy, he is the sweetest person. He sits near me on the bus. I recently got out of a bad relationship, and I miss having someone to be there for me. This new guy and i sometimes talk a little on the bus. I really like him, and I would be interested in dating him. But I dont know haw to ask him, and I dont want to ask him and him say no.... should I wait until we have become good friends and then ask him? Do you think I should ask him at all?

You don't have to wait until you are "good friends."

I think you could ask him out once you become just friends. Right now you aren't even friends so you have some work to do, but with a little effort you should be able to be friends. Be sure to say hi to him every time you see him in school and give him a big smile.

Soon you will feel close enough to him to ask him out.

Maybe you could give him something small like a box of those little candy valentines with sayings on them.
