I talked to my ex on the phone tonight. Talked to him about how I've come to realize and accept things. I don't know how to make him realize these things....(that I don't care about him smoking/drinking/partying) or how to show him that I love him more than anyone else in this damned world. If we tried one more time, we could work.
He told me there's nothing I can say to have us back
together right now. "It's possible, but not likely," is what he told me about getting back together.
He doesn't want to try because he doesn't want this sh*t to happen again - This sh*t won't happen again.
I just gotta be his friend and sh*t. It just kills me because I KNOW we can work.
I love this guy. Really, truely, wholeheartidly LOVE HIM.
I want to show him that. but he doesn't want to try, even one last time.
So right now I need to give him time and space... I don't know what to do besides that...

It's good that you have a positive outlook on this. You should, as you said, give him time and space.
Another thing to try is to call him once a week to find out what he is doing, to let him know you still care, and to maintain contact. Be cheerful, don't talk about your relationship, and limit the call to 15 mins. This will give you some contact and also give him plenty of space.
