is it normal not to talk to your bf for days?

My boyfriend is quite a few years older than me and this is only my second relationship, is it normal not to talk to your bf for days? Okay I'm very confussed, everything was going great with my boyfriend, everything was normal nothing weird and then it started saturday he said he would call me when he got out of the shower and never called me back so then tuesday i called him and he said he would come out with me on wednesday and he would call me, but once again he hasnt called me, whenever i call him hes happy to talk to me and always says I love you back. he has been working overtime at his job lately, is it possible hes just busy? should I keep calling him? or is this a take a hint situation, if so how long do I have to wait of him not calling me before we are offically apart?

Don't be accusatory or grim, just be curious and he should come forth with his feelings.
