The guy I like knows I like him and he knew for a long time now. One of my friends asked him if he liked me and he said that he liked me as a close friend. Then another one of my friends said that he probably does like me only he's hiding it. Thanks for the help!

You should probably be satisfied with that. But if you aren't then slowly start building your friendship with him until it is a very close friendship. By that time, he may consider you for a girlfriend.
