He blames it on me

Hi there,

I know this sounds kinda weird but, hey,here it goes...
for example: If my fiance (20yrs old) said something really hurtful to his ma or anybody for that matter,but he didnt mean it (meant to be a joke)he would tell them i told him to say it, which of coarse isnt true, it upsets me cus i take the heat but then he confesses and says i didnt say anything, i told him that this upsets me and he says its a dirty habit and he is trying his best to stop, i know he is trying but he is hurting me in the process. He loves me to bits and doesnt mean it, i know this!

Will he stop eventually?

It sounds like a bad habit. Make it clear to him that you will not tolerate this kind of joking because it reflects poorly on you. It also reflects poorly on him and he should be eager to change something he has probably done since childhood. It won't be easy, try to encourage others in his family to help him get over this habit.
