I still love her, but i dont think we can get back together.

Visitor's Question from a unknown year old Male
Hi there, me and my girlfriend of two and a half years had a very bad break up. Me and my girl would hang out everyday, I havent seen her for 32 hours, and thats the longest we have ever been apart since we have been going out, we had broken up before but only for a few hours. Anyways she said that i dont talk enought (Im a quiet person) and that she doesnt know if she loves me anymore. I almost never cry, but when she told me that and we broke up, I havent been able to stop. All my friends are over at her place right now, because we would all hang out over there. I still love her, but i dont think we can get back together. Please tell me how to forget about her, I cant stop thinking about her even when Im with my friends. I seriously cant live like this, its like torture

Life will get better. It will just take some time. I was married to a man for 11 years and after our divorce, it only took him 2 months to find the true love of his life. You think that everything is completely black and bleak right now. And it is. But it will get better. I promise.

Getting over a traumatic experience takes time, and each person handles it differently. What I have found is helpful is whenever I start remembering and feeling sad, I try to find the love that's in it and appreciate what I had. And I remind myself that it's done and over and it was a wonderful time like high school is wonderful but it has an end too. And a new, better chapter will open up afterward. It's just a matter of getting there.
