I Kissed Another Guy

My boyfriend has just joined the national guard, so hes away at basic training for 5 months. I dont want to break up with him because i love him. But i was at my friends house and a guy there asked me if he could kiss me, i dont know what i was thinking and i said yes. I feel horrible now and all my friends are telling me how much of a mistake i made. My boyfriend called me and i told him about it, and he says he still loves me..but still i cant get over it, and how much i hate myself for it.
What does this mean? Does it mean that i dont love my boyfriend as much as i think i do?

It's a hard test to resist temptation that is right in front of you when you are feeling very lonely. However it's a test that committed couples have to make and pass every day. You failed this one time, and you feel badly about it. That's a good sign. You need to work at being stronger in the future, because the partner of a military person ends up being apart for quite a bit of time.
