Is it ok to ask a girl out over the phone since I don't see her very often?

What is there for the two of us to do that won't seem too much like a date?

Yes, it is definitely ok to ask her out on the phone. It would be better to do
it in person but you don't have that choice.

Ask her out to a movie, or a walk in the park, or bowling. If she wants to go out with you she will be glad to do any of these things.
