What kind of a relationship is that?

So, here is me again with my admirer who is afraid even to touch my hand. I follow your advice and I keep giving him hugs and friendly touches. Recently we went on a trip to Turkey with some friends and during the four days of the trip he was constantly around me making sure that I have food, water, etc. He carried my luggage all around the city, he kept buying me food and water. Now he wants me to send him all the pictures from the trip though he is present on only a couple of them, all the others are of me in front of nice buildings, etc. Apart from that he keeps saying how beautiful and gentle I am, etc. Now I am leaving for the USA for 4 months and he keeps repeating that I will forget him, that I will not call him when I come back... But on the top of everything he is still awfully scared of touching me, with the others he is prefectly fine, he gives them hugs and so on. With all the affection and care he demonstrates, he is afraid even to touch my fingers.
So, I simply wonder what kind of a relationship is that, is it possible that I am lying to myself and he is just a friend, or he is in love with me, but too shy to confess it?

He probably does love you and is shy.
Take the bull by the horns and tell him you feel left out because he won't touch you. Tell him you want to hold hands, kiss, and extended hugs... start it off slow with him.
If you like him, be sure to tell him very clearly because he may think you don't like him. Do all this before you go to the USA or he will be very upset the whole time you are away.
