stopping the one of love from walking away
Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Male
me and my girlfriend have been together for about a year and we fight alot lately cause she says i don't trust her and i smother her. she is in college and i worry for her safety caues the people she be around i think won't look out for her and they are the wrong type of company to be around but she gets made at me when i say something to her about it.I love her more than anything in this world and she is the first person that really has shown me waht love is all about beacause we have been thru more than what normal people go thru in 5years we have done in a month and we are still here.we got into a big fight last night and it turned physical,i let her hit me until i couldn't take it no more and i hit her 1ce and i am ashamed but thats how we normally fight.i wouldn't let her leave the room cause i wanted her t talk to me and she wouldn't. I said alot of things that i didn't mean last night and i am ashamed of everything i did. I think that i have pushed her away from me for good this time and i want more than anything to work this out with her but she won't give me 5seconds i can't blame her but LORD KNOWS I STILL LOVE HER WITH ALL MY HEART and i feel she is really gone this time and it hurts me to my soul.Please help me!

My advice is for you two to take a break.
She is feeling smothered and that's good enough reason right there.
Add on the fighting and you have proof positive that you need a break.
Suggest a break and agree that when you get back together that there will be a "no hitting" rule also.
Have your disagreements when you are completely sober and be gentle.
