Best Friend Annoyance
Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female My best friend John and me are really close. We have been like this about 1 1/2 years of high school. We talk everyday for hours. People mistake our closeness for a romantic relationship because we... hold hands, hug, ect(no kissing though). I love him alot... love like I need and want him in my life forever. He also told me that he loves me. But we always make sure we don't say it to each other back to back (I love you... I love you too) so our close friendship won't get awkward. A few days ago we got into a fight on the phone and I was asked what was I doing to him. He said that I won't get out his face and I'm always in his business. I was trying to tell him if I did I don't mean it. Then we ended up fighting and I had to hang up because I started crying. He called me back after about 3 minutes to apologize. So I asked him has he noticed any change between us like annoyance and awkward moments that never used to be there. He said yes. So we discussed the problem and came to the conclusion its might be how close we are. I don't want to lose him, but I'm terrified that I will if this continues on. Is this normal what's happening between us? Is it my fault? What can we do to solve this problem? Any tips on how to prevent it from happening again?
RomanceClass.com Advice One possibility is that you two are falling into romantic love and the stress of denying it is causing the tensions that are arising.
Discuss this with him even if it is just to clear the air.
It isn't unusual in any relationship for there to be tough times when squabbles break out and awkward silences appear.
Keep talking and you two will figure it out.
