I feel like my jealousy is destroying out relationship

i've been going out with my girlfriend for about 6 months now, and i never knew i was such a jealous person until i met her, i have no idea where it comes from and why i think it, i know she loves me and wouldn't do anything to hurt me, but when i know she's going out with her friends i start thinking about all stupid situations like her getting drunk and doing something with another guy, this then always creates an argument which ends up with her then talking to me or telling me i'm being stupid, i know i am, i've tried telling her that i reall cannon help it and that my brain conjours up stupid things, and i just want to know whether it is worth me trying to get over my jealousy issue or call it a day with her and let her be happy with someone who can let her do as she pleases, i have had this on my mind for ages bceause i hate upsetting her and it seems to be causing a massive rift even though she tries to pretend nothign has happened afterwards, thank you

Try fighting the jealousy.
Whenever it rears its ugly head, tell it to go away and leave you alone because your girl friend loves you and would not hurt you. After you do this a hundred times or so the jealous feelings will give up try to bother you because you are not reacting to them.
