A guy in love

Life always seems to throw us curve balls when we expect a fast one; you never see it coming. It was Valentine’s day and I had been friends with this girl for a while, and we were going to try to take it to the next level. I didn’t wanna screw this up, so I pulled out all the stops. I had reservations at a great Thai place, had bought roses, good bottle of Champaign, her favorite dessert, I had it all. So at 6:00 I was going to pick her up to go ice skating, and we were gonna have a blast.
So as I’m getting ready around 5ish my phone rings,
“Hello”
“Air?”
“Sarah, what’s wrong?”
“look, I sprained my ankle I can’t go”
“What? Well, can I get the food and some medication for you and bring it over and we’ll watch a movie, or something?”
“no, I just need to rest, bye.”
Click.
“Sarah, hello?”
So, now I feel like total garbage. I sit back on my bed and just stare into oblivion and hate a little bit of everything right then. Then I notice that my AIM window was up on my computer. I had been chatting to this chick, Kat, a few weeks before and she seemed pretty cool, we had just never connected because of scheduling issues. Well, I noticed her window said she was feeling a little blue, so I though, “screw it. Why not.”
I sent her a little message just asking how she was, and she responded back, and we chatted like that for a little bit. Finally I asked if she happened to like Thai food and she said she loved it, so I asked if she wanted to come to dinner with me, she said she’d love to.
I pick her up at 8:00 and we instantly connect, it was like we had know each other for years. So, as we get to know each other, she drops a bomb, she has a long distance BF, I felt devastated, but I acted nonchalant about it. So the evening went wonderfully and we both agreed to “hang out” again.
So as the weeks pass we hang out more and more, almost daily. I bring her flowers some of the time and tell her she’s beautiful every time I see her. We both know that we’re falling for each other, so one night, I finally asked.
“Kat, what is this, what are we doing?”
“What do you mean?”
“Look, I know you know I have feeling here, and I’m pretty sure you do too, am I right?”
She looks at me and looks devastated for some reason, she whips around and stares at the wall and whimpers, “I can’t do this, we can’t have this conversation, I don’t want to.”
“Hey,” I start rubbing her back and arms and try to console her, “It’s ok, just tell me how you feel.”
“NO, I can’t do this.”
I grab her firmly by her arms and turn her around and look her right in the eyes, “Kat, just tell me, please.”
She sighs and start telling me how she is happy with her current BF, even though she does have feelings, she knows she can’t just leave him. She doesn’t want to hurt him and that she has a lot going on in her life and she just needs a friend right now. I tell her that we can’t deny our feelings. She looks at the ground and starts crying. I reach out and hold her in my arms and tell her it’s gonna be ok. I tell her I’m not going to force this on her, but I won’t ever give up. I’m going to be even more charming, wonderful and sweet towards her, and make it hurt her more every time she pushes me away, until she can’t do it anymore. I finish hugging her and tell her I’m sorry for putting her in this position and I leave her house.
That was last night, so now I’m waiting to finish the story
