Don't liston to other peoples opinions!
There is no rule book for dating/flirting, if someone truely likes you then they will like you for who you are. Following a guide on what to do and what not to do is certinatly not going to win over the heart of a girl. Different girls like different things and like to be treated in different ways, just like anybody does.
My aadvice would be to do whatever feels comfortable
