Recovering from a Breakup

Emotions and Self Esteem :
Give Yourself Time

When you watch movies, people go through amazingly painful breakups and then 5 minutes later are already dating someone else, laughing and smiling. They only do that because a movie only has 2 hours to tell an entire story in. In real life, breakups can easily take weeks if not months to get through. The longer the relationship, the longer the healing period will take.

Don't rush yourself. Don't listen if friends try to push you to "get better". Real friends will understand that you need time to get through this, at your own pace. On one hand, don't obsess about the ex. Don't surround yourself with reminders of your ex and go to the places you two used to go together. But on the other hand, don't expect the pain to just vanish overnight. It will fade slowly, over time, if you let yourself heal.
