We were watching Vertigo as part of our quest to watch all movies in the AFI top 100. It was a little depressing because the hero had a great female friend who obviously adored him, and yet he dismisses her. I got the sense that she did care for him greatly and broke up with him because she didn't get the sense that he cared back. She was the one who stood by him when he was sick, who tended to him, and then he's off again after the elegant other woman.

What does this movie say about relationships? That men might "settle" for a friend when they really want a sexy "looker"?

i really don't think so........
if u truly love any girl then look comes the last and every guy has his own priorities whether he looking for true love or sexy chick who have bank balance or the girl who have nothing except love.....
movie represent a love story of one persons life but we all are different then how could a single movie represents each individuals life.....
looks comes the last and thoughts comes the first
