Yes exactly BLR. One thing I do is take a photo of it. That way I can treasure the photo as a memory. I can then pass the actual physical thing along to someone who will love it and care for it.
Of course that being said, I had this model of a Mustang car I'd made a number of years ago. It was in the "to donate" pile. So I got some cloth and cleaned it up so that it would be in good shape to donate. Once I got it all cleaned and nice looking, I wanted to put it on a shelf in my office
Still, better that it's being admired and enjoyed, vs dusty and abandoned in a back closet.
