I really love my friend. However she is taken

I really love my friend. However she is taken. I told her I liked her. We have a very good relationship. We talk and go to movies and hang out a lot. I really want this girl. We have grown a lot closer since I told her probably even to best friend status. I want to know how good are my chances to be with her. Once they brak up what should I do? I'm kinda waiting around for her. Is that good? I don't really take interets in other girls because of her. Please Help.
