Be shy with everyone else but this guy

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
There is a guy in my grade that I have liked for a few months now. He is really a sweet person and I would love to go out with him. He obviously likes me because in every class we have together he goes out of his way to sit next to me. He is super playful, like he messes around and mimics little nervous-habit type things I do with my hands. We have lunch together and he sits on the opposite side of the room with his friends and I sit with my friends and we just watch and smile at each other.

Now my whole thing is that he is really shy and I'm REALLY shy and neither of us has the guts to ask the other out. How do I get closer, like a buddy to him, to get him to ask me out. The school year is almost over and we will boh be going away to college and I don't want the opportunity to pass up.

THANKS!

Everyone is shy. Some more than others.

You and he are both shy. So it is going to be up to you to break the shyness barrier with him. Tell yourself that you can be shy with everyone else but him. He is special to you and you are going, for this one time, to be brave and ask him out on a date.

Maybe the best way is to slip him a note asking him to go to a movie or something. That will give him a chance to relax from his shyness and my guess is that he will say yes.

Give it a try... remember time is running out!

Good luck!
George
