Is it just pity

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
The guy i've liked for many years now knows that I like him. The problem is that he is nice to me at times but what if he is just being nice. He makes me think that he is starting to like me. What if he's just feeling sorry for me? How do I confront him about my feelings so that he hears how i truly feel about him instead from someone else? How do ask if he is just pitying me?
