Finding Someone - In Person? On The Web?

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Male
IS IT BETTER TO FIND THAT SPECIAL SOME ONE IN PERSON OR ON THE WEB?

RomanceClass.com Advice
It's ALWAYS better to know someone in person. The web makes you THINK you know everything about that person, but in reality you only know what they choose to tell you. In person, it's far more likely that you'll get ideas of what they are really like, even if they're trying to make a good impression. Also in person you tend to get to know their friends, see how they choose to dress and so on. All of these tell you a HUGE amount about what sort of a person they really are.

People on the web very often build up a fantasy image of each other, looking at all their good traits and never seeing any negative traits. Finding someone is about accepting ALL of them - the good and the bad. The web lets you focus on just the "imaginary best" of someone until you believe in it completely - and then when you have to deal with the reality, things often come to a crashing halt.

That's not to say that if the web is your only option it's hopeless. But it definitely requires a lot more maturity, a lot more awareness and a lot more work.
