me but he said I wasn't ugly. what does that mean.

What if some strange guy called you up and started asking you to reveal your innermost secrets - and then laughed about it all day in school with his friends?
If you care about him - and him about you - you should respect each others feelings that much! If you must, pass him a note or something. But it should be in private. Never expect a person to just put themselves at risk for ridicule with that sort of private information about feelings, especially on phone lines.
