can i get her back?

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Male
in high school i met a very beautiful girl. she was a year older that me, and we started dating. my dad died at the begining of our relationship and she realy helped me through it. my mother and i had a falling out and my then girlfriend helped me through that as well. we became best friends and almost like family to eachothers family. i asked her to marry me one day and she said yes. but in the mean time she was 2 hours away at school. we only saw each other once a week. i am also going into the military. then after 2 1/2 years she goes back to college one semester and dumps me after a week. she is now with a new guy. we have been broke up for about 6 months. do i have a chance to get back with her and how would i attemp to get her back?

The news is not good. You know so many things are running against you that the odds are very slim for you to get her back.

She is far away and you didn't see her often. She is in a different world now being in college. You are going into the service. You've been broken up for six months now. AND, she has a boyfriend.

My advice is to concentrate on going into the military and doing a good job there. Make sure you have a way to contact her because you will need friendship while you are away from home. (This goes with other friends too)

Who knows, it is not impossible that she will become reattracted to you, but you should just consider her a friend now.

Good luck! George
