Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
Dear Romance class

I've been with my boyfriend for 10 months now. We met on-line in December, but at the time, I had a boyfriend, but because the attraction was undeniable, I broke up with my cheating ex to be with my bf. Things have been pretty rocky in the beginning because he was afraid I might leave him too, for whatever reason. Well, sometime in February, he got into contact with a girl he used to like a lot. Being the jealous type of person that I am, I told him to pursue what never happened between him and her. And yes, we fought and fought, and he decided to give it a shot with her. He broke up with me.

We got back together and have been together ever since February. Unfortunately, while we were fighting, my bf told all his co-workers, friends, and family members the drama we were going through. Now, they do not like me. They do not "approve" of him dating me, and as a result, he is affected by their opinions. Is there anything I can do to salvage our relationship? I know fighting can be healthy in a relationship, but every time we fought, he would tell the whole world and make me look so bad!!! I am in love with this man and I really want things to work out.

thanks!

RomanceClass.com Advice
First off get him to agree that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

He has no business broadcasting your personal affairs to others. So that's the first priority.

Second, he should talk you up to his co-workers, friends, and family so that they begin to think well of you again. Ask him to do this.

Finally, work on taming your arguments. Fight clean so there won't be so much mud to sling around.

Good luck! George
