I Want a Real Relationship

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
I'm only 16 years old, and most of the past relations that i had with boys were just for temporary pleasure. Recently i have noticed that i want more. When i made my wants and intentions clear to the last boy he stopped talking to me. Does saying that you want a relationship scare boys away? Is having a realationship something that you just have to "feel" your way into or can you state your wants up front to avoid hurt feeling later on?

There is this guy that i like now, and i was wondering what your advice would be- i do like him, but i'm interested in a relationship only, should i just wait it out or make it clear? I'm tired of GAMES!

RomanceClass.com Advice
People get scared off by any sort of demands, because they want to feel that a relationship is a joint effort by two people - not one person meeting the demands of the other.

The ideal relationship is between best friends - between two people who really care for each other and want to support each other. If until now it hasn't been about friendship, then it's no wonder you want something different! So what you want is actually the normal type of relationship that most of us love and enjoy.

So to get it, you have to approach it in that way. Don't see this next guy as a "target to be with". Think of him as a FRIEND. Start being his friend. Spend time with him, get to know him, let him learn all about you. Have fun together. Go to movies together, go on walks together. The more you care for each other, the closer you will get. And then you will have a relationship with him, and it will be one you treasure.
