The 16 - 14 age difference

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I am a guy in the 11th grade and soon to be a senoir but i have a little probelm im in love with this 8th grade girl, me and her get along real good. I need advice how to date her and get her to really like me even though there is an age difference and stuff.

I am only 16 she is 14.

Our Suggestion:
While she's in middle school right now it's going to be rough. The whole group she's with is of a certain mindset. High school (9-12) is a very different matter and people there are all talking about and thinking about dating. So when she's a 9th grader, it's very normal for seniors to date freshmen.

I would keep it casual over the summer - hang out with her, but not talk about dating. Just have fun and spend time together. And then when she goes into 9th grade, that's when most parents start to let their kids really date, and when kids are in an environment that they understand what dating is all about - the commitment it means to the other person, the loyalty you show for each other, and so on.
