What is Breaking the Ice?
Every relationship has to begin with that initial contact. It's the point where you go from 'one of the thousands of faceless strangers around me' to 'Oh ok I know that person'. Breaking the ice isn't about starting an hour long conversation. It's about crossing that barrier from 'unknown person' to 'known person'. If this is someone in your school or work you're interested in, don't try to leap 8 hurdles at once. Just try to break the ice the first time. Then on subsequent meet-ups, flirt more and more. Soon you'll be a regular part of that person's 'group of friends'.
