The guilt can sometimes be overpowering, but we are only human and make mistakes. I know it sounds selfish but you first need to forgive yourself for doing it and then ensure it never ever happens again. Only then can you make sure that you shower your partner with the love that they deserve.
The guilt is a culmination their pain aswell, it is the burden and punishment that you must deal with. You are in the wrong, it is selfish to hurt them for something they have never done. Time will ease the pain for you.
