'goby' (go bye)
This is a great nickname for the guy who seems to already have too many nicknames. An ex of mine never went by his legal name, so when he filled out paperwork he often put 'go by John' in the first name box hoping people would call him John without him having to do any explaining about not liking his legal name. On one occasion I had a receptionist call the house looking for Goby. When I told her she had the wrong number she repeated her inquiry and I realized that she had misread his note and thought his first name was goby. I thought it was so hilarious I began calling him Goby also.
