Does Losing your Virginity Hurt?

We often have visitors write in with solutions to each others' problems. Here is a visitor's solution to one of our visitor's questions.

Original Visitor's Question from a 13-20 year old Female
How much does it hurt for a teenage girl to lose her virginity and how does she know if she's ready?

User Submitted Advice from a 13-20 year old Female

Reading that question and the responses it received, I can't help but speak my mind. I noticed one of the responses was dated August of 2004. It's now the beginning of December ('04), so evidently some time has passed. To the girl who asked that question, I'm wondering now if you are presently a virgin. All opinions aside, I hope you are.

Tomorrow will be December tenth. That day last year I lost my virginity to a guy four years my senior. It was in the back seat of his Grand Pre, and it hurt like hell. I can distinctly remember gripping his back, in an attempt to damper the pain. I can still remember the sharp, protruding pain.

I was not ready. There had been many times he asked me to "give it up" and until that night, I had been strong. But eventually, hormones and curiosity took over. As I write that now I can't help but feel remorse. I shouldn't have lost it in a backseat, and love, passion, and hormones may have fueled my decision, but all three disappeared sooner or later. At least for him.

I was dumped not three months later, after I put out on many occasions. I was sure, during the time we were together, the love I had for him was enough to concur any regret I would have in the future. Yet, that “love” only lasted a couple of months. It is no surprise to me now, that I do look back with regret. I was too young, and not at all ready. Save it, if not for marriage, for a time when you have no doubt. I wish I had heard those words this time last year.

Today I still think to myself, "That will be the time, the place, and the mistake I will remember forever." But what can you do, life goes on.
