Me and my ex have been broken up

Me and my ex have been broken up for about 6months now he's been seeing this gurl for about 6months I believe she was the reason for our break up but he keep telling me it was my fault. I want him back so bad but I don't believe he wants me back. We talk every now and then and I try to be his friend keep him encouraged(he only calls when he's having relationship problems)and tell him that he need to change his ways it's like even though I want him back i'm helping him stay with the gurl he's with now.He told me one night that he will always love me b/c i'm always there for him. I don't want to be his friend I want me and him to be together again how do I make that happen I've tried everything I don't know what else to do...

You seem to be doing all the right things.

You are being friends, you are there for him and he loves you for it.

You could try calling him once a week to see how is doing, to let him know you still care, and to maintain contact. Be cheerful, don't talk about your relationship, and keep the calls to 15 mins.

Ask him if he wants to come over just to chat and have a nice home cooked meal.
Food has a way of smoothing things over.
