Going down a level

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Male
Ok listen, i been going out with this girl for like a year but we been close friends about 3 years now. I love her she loves me , there is no doubt about that. BUT she is telling me that she cant be there 100% of the time right now because of some drama she's going through. I said ok i understand that but then she says "I think we should go down a level" Look i am not the smartest guy in the world but did she just ask if i could love her less? should i be worried? just to let ya'll know i tried talkin to her about it and she just keeps saying im sorry. Help!! thanks

RomanceClass.com Advice
It is important that you find out what she means by going down a level. Does that mean just being friends? She really owes you an explanation of what she means rather than leaving you dangling, not knowing what is going on.

My advice then is to gently ask her exactly what she means and don't except "sorry" as an answer. Ask her if something has happened in her life that has changed things. Whatever she says, you need to back off now and give her the space she needs. Perhaps you have been spending too much time together or have become too intimate for her comfort level.

Keep in mind that all romances have their ups and downs and this could be a temporary down. Be gentle with her as she is obviously in pain over something.

Good luck,
George
