Sex at 14

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Male
im 14, and my girlfriend and i have been "going out" for maybe 7 or 8 months. she wants to go all the way w/ me. her reason is that it will bring us closer together. she sed she is not doing it for physical pleasure, but to get more emotional bond between us.

i was doing a lot of research and i found that condoms almost never break, and that they work over 99% of the time. but there is so many diseases and such, so i am not sure. what do you think? thank you. also, is there any diseases or anything that a condom cannot prevent?

RomanceClass.com Advice
A condom is NOT foolproof. There are thousands of pregnant women out there who had condoms involved and they broke. 99% means one out of every hundred times a condom is used, it fails. Those are really high odds if you are only 14.

There are tons of sexual diseases, and condoms are not full protection against them. It's not like your penis is a "magical item" that has disease and everything else is safe, or visa versa. If a disease is going to be shared, it WILL happen if you guys are rolling around naked in bed, regardless of a tiny piece of rubber that only covers 1/10000 of your body.

Sex is NOT about creating an emotional bond!! How about the millions of people who get MARRIED while they are virgins and enjoy the first sexual act on their wedding night? I think they are completely connected emotionally without having to resort to sex. If you are having issues and "only sex can heal it", that is VERY serious and needs to be addressed. Sex is a physical act that can lead very easily to babies. It is NEVER something that should be done for "emotional connection".

I have an entire set of tips on non-sexual intimacy.

Unless you have really been doing these things for at least a year, you are not ready for sexual intercourse. And if you are only 14, and her body is hardly able to *have* a baby safely, you are definitely not ready.
