Hiding My Boyfriend

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
Me and him are in a relationship. He is everything I want and I really love him, and I know he loves me too. We've been going out for three months.

The thing is, I've had bad social issues because of my previous boyfriends, so I'm trying to keep my relationship now, private.

Am I being fair to him? He says he doesn't mind, but still... I feel selfish. It's between friends and him, what should I do?

RomanceClass.com Advice
Part of becoming solid in a relationship is weathering any storms life throws at you. Life is never easy, or fair, or straightforward. Life has giant hurdles, tornadoes, hurricanes, and disasters. That is normal. So part of dealing with a relationship is building the strength to weather those. It's critical to learn. If you think the grumpiness of friends and family is rough, just wait until the real dangers that life will throw at you along the way.

Yes, you need to be able to stand up and say that you are a couple. Unless you'll be thrown in jail for some reason, or some other drastic nastiness would happen, it's important to be able to stand side by side.

If your friends are true friends, they will care about your happiness. If they care about anything else, then they are not true friends. I know it's hard to realize, but friends come and go. True partners in life are the ones that matter.

Especially as you said you are age 13-15 - by the time you reach 20 you probably won't see any of those people again. They seem important at the time, but long term they are not critical. But it's your partners in life that you will treasure.
