Understanding what he wants

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I am 17 years old, going to be 18 in may. Keep in mind that I am mature for my age, and act much more likea 20 y/o.I have had strong feelings for my coworker(who is 22) since june, but he only found in December-which I found out he likes me back( I had heard this through another coworker). I never really worked with him ever, so i never really got to see him. Then I decided to start taking the initiative to get to know him, and started visiting him at work(this was around late feb.). He seemed to like me visiting him at work. I asked him briefely if he actually knew I like him, to which he responded yes. The topic was dropped, and we went on talking and goofing off. The next visit I asked him if he actually liked me back, because I wanted to hear it straight from him. He responded "Sure, but the age is off putting." I had had several visits when one time we were outside talking, and he brought it up. He said thathe didnt think anything could work out because of the age thing, that it wouldnt feel right. He said that he thinks im an "awesome person" and that he likes that I come and visit him at work. So I kept visiting him at work.
There is something special about him. He listens to me, looks me in the eye when I talk to him, and remembers thing that i tell him. Hes funny, and makes me sooo happy. i just wish i knew what was going on in his head. I was working with him today, and I asked if he wanted to hang out over spring break, and he said that he did, but also said not to "think anything of it." I mean, I know it seems obvious he doesnt want to take it further, but I dont know. It can be confusing. I sometimes cant tell if his joking around is flirting or if hes being friendly. I know he likes me, hes told me that, and has admitted to being nervous(usually after I say that I am after one of our discussions about this very thing). So a part of me think hes confused to, but I dont know.
I want him to see past the age thing, and see me. I want to know how to do that. I want to feel something from him, or see if when I stop being flirtatious and giggly, if he starts to act up. Most of all, I want an outsiders opinion. Im really falling for this guy, so its tough.

RomanceClass.com Advice
When you turn 18, I think he will feel somewhat differently about you. Something magic about turning 18. So maybe you should get him involved in celebrating your birthday.

As far as age in general, you are putting it to the test. If he continues to be put off by the age difference then you may be out of luck. But, if your contacts are positive the age difference will melt away.

Good luck! George
