Trying to forgive the past

i had read a story on here that was just like my story i had been with my ex for over a year and some months i do and still ove him with all my heart we've when thru alot. I had found out at the end of the relationship that he slept wit one of my friends and i was shocked and hurt. We recently had gotten into contact and found out we still are in love with each other. We talked for hours about the good times and bad. I thought i could forgive him for cheating untill i found out there was another person some random stranger , when he told me he said it was a slip up but i dont know what to do. Hes in another state and i dont know when he is coming back but he wants to take it slow but i dont like his answers when it comes to cheating. He says if the relationship is bad its going to happen , but i am a person looking for a long term i know we are gonna have good and bad times but i dont know if i can trust him again what if we have a fight and it doesnt go good im worried about the past repeating itself. I love him very much but i love myself more, i believe in not cheating about making things work but mabey he still is to young because before him i was in a 5 year relationship and was almost married but ended because he was on herion and couldnt do it anymore so please help

Trust is one of the most important parts of a relationship.

For your own sake something must be done to rebuild the trust. One way to do this is to talk it over until you feel comfortable.

You are right that you will worry about this and he should be honest with you so you know which way to go. Work very hard at talking this out and encouraging him to be honest with you. Even if it hurts.
