Dont be a whore, but you have to let him know you are into him, subtly. Being slightly shy is cute, but dont hide behind your books or run when you see him. If he's with his friends and you aren't the hottest thing out there, i wouldn't advise pulling hin away, but if hes with one or two others, talk to him. And, if you have something really nice about you, like your eyes, hair, butt, chest whatever! Make an effort to make that standout! Im not talking about wearing the tightest jeans out there, or the lowest shirt you can find, but make. an. effort. i cant stress that enough.
