Putting you Down
If he slights you in front of friends because itīs "cool", he is in essence saying that his friends are more important than you are - and that he's willing to *disrespect* you in order to prove it. This is definitely the time to cool things off between you two, and have a talk.
Your partner should care about you, respect you, and promote your well being more than his image. If he thinks it makes him gain respect by disrespecting you, he needs to grow up. Never let yourself be used by someone - it won't make things better. If anything, your partner will get used to it and things will only get worse.
