Is dishonesty sometimes better?

It is tempting, if you´ve done something that you KNOW will upset your partner, to want to lie to them about it. "It´ll just upset him/her," you think to yourself. You rationalize that you are shielding your partner from harm by not divulging this information.

What you are really doing, though, is shielding yourself from the consequences of your actions. Your partner has a right to make his or her own decision how to act, and how to behave, and this is based on a trusting relationship with you. Your partner deserves to have a full view of the situation to decide how to live a day to day life with you ... it is up to you to be open and provide your partner with that clear, honest view.
