Guys and girls play together fine until puberty. Guys don't really change - but girls change a LOT! Guys can be very afraid of this change, and of the new sexuality they see in girls. Guys suddenly become afraid to talk to girls, because girls have become "mysterious creatures".
You need to realize that despite the myths, guys are still human beings that want the basic things all humans want - love, attention, respect. They get very mixed signals from TV and movies, and make mistakes. It's important you treat them as people - not as girl-hungry hormoney animals.
