Mommy vs Partner

Most women are raised from childhood to be 'mommies'. They play with dolls, babysit for kids, and expect to raise kids themselves. But it is a very delicate line when they feel they need to 'mommy' a partner.

This usually involves chores. For whatever reason, the man hasn't done the chores the woman feels he should have. The man often doesn't even realize there is a problem. But the woman gets annoyed that the chores aren't done and begins to nag, to get them done. This puts the guy in the position of the 'non-performing child' and the woman in the position of the 'controlling mommy'. The woman resents the chores not being done - and also resents having to play the mommy with a partner in life. The woman gets really upset as this continues, and often the guy has no idea this is a big problem.

It is critical you are aware of this issue and find ways not to get stuck in this trap. Write out your chore list. Hire a house helper. Change the chores around. Whatever it takes, make sure you do not get into this nagging - chore circle. If you do, it can destroy even the most happy of relationships.
