Widows and Widowers :
Jealousy of the Departed One

If you are dating a widow or widower, you know it can be difficult to balance how much the "absent person" affects your relationship. Often the widow will still keep photos or momentos around the house, much more so than someone who divorces would. If anything the partner of a widow has to deal much more with the constant reminders of the absent partner than in any other relationship.

On one hand, give your partner time to fully get over these feelings ... but on the other, at some point you should be the full focus of your partnerīs love and affection. A discreet photo or two is reasonable, but to have every single room be chock-full of momentos of their lives together is not healthy if you two are to move forward as a couple.

You should try not to be unreasonably jealous. However, your partner has to make a commitment to you, and allow the absent partner to move into a secondary position in the past.
