Getting Close to a Female Friend :
Invent a Pet Name

Part of what draws people together is shared memories and shared knowledge that is special between you two, that others don't have a part in. So find your own pet name for your girl, one that she likes! You want her to be happy when she hears you call her this name. Don't overuse it and call her it all the time. The point is that it's a special name that you use when you two are alone.

Don't make it TOO lovy-dovy though. You want her to feel comfortable and happy when she hears it, not nervous about "what is coming next". Some examples are -

pookie
babe
cutie

These aren't names to shout across the room at a party. They're names to greet her with in a soft voice when she shows up at your house.
