Don´t Raise your Voice

Raising your voice is a way of trying to be louder than your partner - to insist on the attention. Your partner *should* be paying attention to you anyway, and concentrating on resolving the issue at hand. The conversation should already be important.

If you find yourself raising your voice, stop for a moment and take a deep breath. Say that this is very important to you, and continue. If you talk without shouting, you´ll find your partner will be more ready to think about what you are saying.
