This is sort of childish, but I think it works. When in a relationship, try to make a tight bond with her/his friends. If the guy or girl breaks up with you and breaks your heart, always make sure to tell his or her friends how well you are doing in life and how you're having so much fun dating other people, etc. This always gets back to the ex. I'm going to a shindig as just friends with her best friend, asked the best friend if that was ok, and it caused a 45 min discussion between her and my ex. Do I want her back? No. But I want her to realize that even though she broke my heart, I've moved on and I'm having a blast.
